Why videos are the latest tool in the hands of marketers?

Videos are the latest tool in the hands of savvy marketers, out to grab consumer eyeballs and engagement. Television as the only medium to run video ads is a past. Cinema screens are offering much cheaper rates to run video advertisements to a captive audience. Today most social channels with substantial user base are making their video features better by the day including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Needless to mention Youtube, Vimeo and Dailymotion are already the videos based popular social channels. Across the devices and media platforms, videos are already dominating. Even WhatsApp is being used to make a video go viral. Mobile devices are certainly fuelling the video content. So, irrespective of the primary social channels used for promotional and engagement activities, videos are going to dominate as the format of content.

Some years from now, people will spend more time watching than reading. They are getting habituated to consuming rich content in terms of a combination of moving images, text, voice, and music. Whether it is about learning or entertainment, videos tend to make the whole experience bigger and far more engaging.

With video production technology expanding its base through simple video capture devices and some free or affordable video editing software, videos are finding its place in every home. Video production costs have fallen significantly and it is likely to further come down. Today one does not need to be a master in the art of video production. People with a basic know-how are able to come up with some engaging video content at a low cost.

According to a report, videos are going to form almost 70% of all consumer Internet traffic. It is witnessing a rapid growth.

Now every online marketer has to bring in videos into their marketing arsenal. Even small and medium enterprises have to comply; otherwise, they will lose out on the real engagement with their existing and prospect customers. Content marketing is making a gradual shift towards video marketing. It is the future.

Enterprises are making corporate videos, explanatory videos, tutorial videos, product videos, customer testimonial videos etc for promotion and consumer engagement. Every subject can be treated well with video content that is easy to consume and share with the peer groups. There are short format videos being made in 10 seconds to long format videos going up to 10 minutes or more. Storytelling gets much easier through the videos. That is the crux.

YouTube is already receiving more than one billion unique visitors every month. Making videos go viral is the subject many online marketers are specializing in. Video has an inherent property that it can easily be shared among friends through the social channels. Website with video content engages visitors more compared to sites confined with text and visual elements. Time spent by the visitor on the page automatically goes up and the bounce rate comes down.

Though videos are being made at a very low cost, taking a professional help for promotional videos always give the content an edge over an amateur video. So, video marketing is here and now, we just need to understand the change and align our marketing for success.
